Our Health Guarantee

At The Puppy Patch, we are committed to responsible breeding practices and take great pride in raising healthy, well-adjusted Rat Terrier puppies. Our breeding dogs are selected for health, temperament, strong physical structure, and genetic soundness. Breeding dogs in our program undergo genetic testing to help reduce the risk of inherited diseases in our puppies.

Each puppy is examined by a licensed veterinarian before going to their new home and receives age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming.

Genetic Health Guarantee

We guarantee that your puppy is free from life-threatening genetic defects for a period of two (2) years from the puppy’s date of birth.

If your puppy is diagnosed with a genetic condition that significantly affects the dog’s quality of life, and the condition is confirmed by a licensed veterinarian, the following support may be provided:

• If the condition does not require surgery, the breeder will provide $200 toward veterinary expenses.

• If the condition requires surgical treatment, the breeder will provide $400 toward veterinary expenses.

• If a confirmed genetic condition results in the death of the puppy, the buyer may receive either a replacement puppy from a future litter or a full refund of the purchase price, at the breeder’s discretion.

Veterinary Examination Requirement

We strongly encourage buyers to have their puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup to ensure the puppy is healthy at the time of placement.

A veterinary examination is required within seven (7) days of pickup to maintain the validity of this health guarantee. This examination helps confirm the puppy’s health and establishes veterinary care with the new owner.

Failure to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within this timeframe may void the health guarantee.

If the examining veterinarian identifies a serious health concern present at the time of pickup, the buyer must notify the breeder immediately and provide written documentation from the veterinarian.

The breeder must be notified within 48 hours of any diagnosis related to this guarantee.

Conditions of Guarantee

This health guarantee applies only to genetic conditions that significantly impact the dog’s quality of life.

This guarantee does not cover:

• Injury or accidents
• Illness caused by environmental factors
• Parasites or infectious diseases contracted after leaving the breeder
• Neglect, abuse, or improper care
• Poor nutrition or failure to provide appropriate veterinary care

Any claim under this guarantee must be supported by written documentation from a licensed veterinarian confirming that the condition is genetic in origin.

The breeder reserves the right to request a second veterinary opinion if necessary.

Owner Responsibilities

The buyer agrees to provide proper care for the puppy, including appropriate nutrition, routine veterinary care, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and a safe living environment.

Health conditions resulting from injury, neglect, poor nutrition, lack of veterinary care, excessive exercise during development, or environmental factors are not covered under this health guarantee.

Breeder Commitment

Our goal is to produce healthy, happy Rat Terriers that thrive as companions and family dogs. We are always available to answer questions and support our puppy families throughout the life of their dog.
